Growing up on a small cattle farm outside of Morton, MS in Scott County, Justin has spent his entire life outdoors. His love for the outdoors has always played a major role in his life. Hunting, fishing, and trapping the Bienville National Forest public lands shaped his passions into a reality.

Justin received a degree in biology from ECCC and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in radiology and management. This allowed him to enjoy another passion for helping others, which he did for almost 20 years. Since then, Justin has been teaching biology and coaching cross country and shooting sports at Morton High School

While in college Justin started writing various hunting and trapping articles and eventually became the field editor for MS Woods and Waters magazine. He currently writes for Fur, Fish, and Game, and other outdoor magazines. He also owns and operates Old South Lures and works with local farmers and landowners in providing information and services in predator management. Justin also helped film and produce seven seasons of Trapping Time TV which aired on the Pursuit channel.

Conservation and land management have also always been another passion that he has enjoyed. He has served on the state NWTF board as well as president of his local chapter, he is also the past vice president of the MS Trappers Association and was named Trapper of the Year in 2021 by his peers. Justin has joined Open Seasons Properties to take his passions and employ them to help others find the outdoor opportunities that they are looking for.
